The Silantes D2O Return Program
Deuterium oxide is a valuable and rare raw material, the production of which is very complex and resource intensive. Do the environment a favor and do not discard your depleted D2O but return it to the cycle!
Silantes has recently started offering a D2O return program. You can send your depleted D2O back to Silantes to receive a credit. Since Silantes is based in Munich, Germany, this will also avoid long shipping distances within Europe.
The credit you receive for recycling your depleted D2O can be applied to your next order. This way, you conserve resources and turn your D2O waste into cash.
To be eligible for Silantes' D2O return program, the depleted D2O should be free of pathogens and other living cells.
The credit is calculated as follows:
Credit = amount of depleted D2O [kg] x isotopic enrichment [atom % D] * 150 €.
Example: By returning 5kg D2O of 92 atom % D, you will receive a credit of 690€.
If you do not know the exact isotopic enrichment of your depleted water, your credit will be calculated based on a reasonable estimate by you. Once we receive your depleted D2O, we will measure the actual isotope enrichment with a Fourier Transformation Infrared Spectrometer and account for the difference from the estimated value.
